Day 5: Endure Together by Trusting that God Holds Our Future
Read 1 John 3:1-3
What a view of the future that the Apostle John wrote. “...when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”
We can’t control the future, but we must remember who holds our future. The God that we know, love, and serve is already in our tomorrows. And here is what we must embrace as believers - our future is bright. Does it get any brighter than being glorified with Christ and seeing Him as he is?
What would it look like for both you and your spouse to live in light of the day that you will see Jesus? What would it look like to entrust every part of our future to Him, knowing that the future for every believer is good?
Tim Keller, in his work, The Meaning of Marriage, wrote these powerful words about what marriage is all about:
“It is to look at another person and get a glimpse of the person God is creating and to say, ‘I see who God is making you, and it excites me! I want to be part of that. I want to partner with you and God in the journey you are taking to his throne. And when we get there, I will look at your magnificence and say, ‘I always knew you could be like this. I got a glimpse of it on earth, but now look at you!’”
What if your marriage had this kind of view of the future and your marriage helped to prepare one another for the day in which you see Jesus? No matter what we are worried about, no matter what we might be facing at this moment, you can trust the God who holds your future. This is because your future in Jesus is incredibly glorious, and your marriage is meant to prepare one another for the glory that will one day be revealed in us. Let that day bring encouragement, endurance, and strength for your marriage today.

“Jesus, help us to live this day in light of the fact that one day we will see you face to face. We trust you for our future no matter what it holds because our future is glorious in you. May the glory that will one day be revealed in us help us to endure today by your Spirit and your power. In Your name, Amen.”
