Day 7: Endure Together by Living for the Glory of God
Read Romans 15:5-6
As we close out this devotional series, let this be a catalyst for your marriage in pursuing the heart of God together. Remember, your marriage is meant to endure, and endurance comes from God. “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement…”
But, also remember, the endurance that we receive is for a purpose. What does Romans 15:6 say? “...with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” This is what Paul wrote to the Church at Rome and what a powerful application we can make from this within our marriages. Our endurance is for the glory of God. As we build a marriage that endures, let it be for the glory of God.
This reminds us of something really important: your marriage is not just about you. It points to something greater. Our marriages have the opportunity to visibly display what God has done in the world through Jesus. When we embrace this calling for our marriage, it will position us to live not for our own glory but for the glory of God.
Therefore, let your marriage be for the glory of God. Your endurance matters for our church, for your family, and for generations to come. This does not mean that everything will go smoothly and there will never be any trouble. There will be. There will be hardships. There will be trouble at times. But, take heart, because Jesus has overcome the world.
Your marriage is meant to endure. But, remember, your endurance has a purpose, and that purpose is for you and your spouse to glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
May your marriage be a repeated opportunity for every man, woman, and child to hear and see the gospel of Jesus Christ. For the glory of God and for our good. Let your marriage point others to Jesus.

“Jesus, may our marriage endure for your glory. May you fill us with the endurance and encouragement that comes from you and you alone. Thank you for what you have taught us over these past seven days. Give us the grace, strength, and power to live it out. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
